Your account and your privacy.

What we use

We use your email address to send sign-in links, identify your account, connect your subscription, and respond to support requests. We store a Stripe customer reference and billing event records so we can provide and check membership access. We do not store your full payment card details.

Cloudflare hosts the site and account database. Resend delivers sign-in emails. Stripe processes payments, subscriptions, and invoices. Support messages sent to our support address are forwarded by Cloudflare to our support inbox hosted by Google. These providers process the information necessary to provide their services, which may involve processing in other countries.

Sign-in and device storage

Sign-in links expire after 10 minutes and work once. We store a hash of each link token. Essential secure cookies keep you signed in for up to 30 days and recognize the browser that requested a sign-in link for up to 10 minutes. Signing out invalidates that session.

Viewing progress, saved evidence, and interface preferences may be stored locally in your browser. Clearing that browser’s site data removes those local settings. We use request information and hashed rate-limit identifiers to protect sign-in from abuse; our infrastructure providers may also process technical request logs.

Retention and requests

Expired sign-in links, sessions, and rate-limit entries are removed during routine sign-in cleanup. Account records are kept to provide your account, and billing or support records may be retained where needed to resolve requests, prevent abuse, or meet legal obligations.

To request a copy, correction, or deletion of your account information, contact support@sceneofthecrime.tv from your account email. We may verify the request before changing or releasing information. Deleting an account does not remove records we must retain, and you should cancel an active subscription through Manage billing to stop renewals.

Case contributions

Case suggestions, uploaded source material, records worksheets, and review updates are stored privately for editorial consideration. See the submission terms and privacy information for access, retention, and withdrawal details. A paid membership is not required to contribute.

Payments and emails

Account creation does not subscribe you to a marketing mailing list. Our sign-in emails are for access to your account. See Stripe’s privacy policy, Resend’s privacy policy, Cloudflare’s privacy policy, and Google’s privacy policy for their processing practices.
